FCA is a ministry of Christian athletes, coaches, and students around the nation. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the United States is celebrated in numerous ways. For example many students and athletes come together in an inviting atmosphere to talk and spread the Gospel.
The program of FCA for West Lauderdale was beginning to decline; however, Grant Butler felt the need to take charge. Butler expresses himself by saying, “I was interested in the program, I really did believe that West Lauderdale needed Jesus. Upon signing up for the leadership position, I just tried to reel more people in. Whether it was with donuts or just friendliness.”
Student Liza Orrell voices how meaningful FCA is to her by emphasizing that “For me personally, this means getting the opportunity to gather with peers around my age who are walking in similar paths as me, and just trying to serve and love God, while being in high school. It also gives me the chance to hear God’s word from my peers.”
Sara Knox frequently attends FCA at West Lauderdale She voices how much of a valuable chance FCA is: “I love that we are able to provide FCA on Fridays. It is a great opportunity for our kids to come together and learn about God’s Word. It provides a safe space for our students to lead each other in scripture and devotions.”
Overall, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes can be a great opportunity for students, athletes, and others. The focus of FCA is to bring people together and share the Gospel all around the Nation.
Additionally, Grant Butler shares, “We have FCA every Friday. It is a great time to meet with people, like-minded Christians. If you’re not a Christian, you’re still invited. We [have] donuts for you to eat.”
