West Lauderdale High School’s Knights of Service Club kicked off their jacket drive on September 22nd. The drive collected jackets, hoodies, sweaters, pullovers, and sweatshirts to support local nonprofit Wesley House, and Hope Mission, an organization dedicated to spreading warmth throughout the community.
Students could donate by dropping off items in the donation bins located by the cafeteria and outside the eighth grade hall.
Teacher Kate McCarty expressed her support for the initiative, stating:
“Being able to serve the community is not only rewarding for the recipient but also the individual participating in the service.”
Student Preston Wilson, founder and president of Knights of Service, shares his excitement, noting:
“It feels really good to start this initiative, having a direct role in positively influencing my community is a feeling like no other. All of the hours spent during this project were more than worth it, and I can’t wait for the next one.”
The Knights of Service Club worked tirelessly to provide warmth and care for those in need. The jacket drive wrapped up on October 10th. Students contributed over 110 winter items to help make a difference.
The community would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and helped bring warmth to those in need.
