On Thursday, January 30th, the Knights kickstarted the end of playoffs with a slam against the Trojans. The Lady Knights played an excellent game that day, starting the game with a 2-pointer by West. With great plays and teamwork, they ended the first quarter with a score of 13-3. At the start of the second quarter, however, the Trojans managed to score a 3-pointer. Furthermore, they begin to make a comeback at 4:22 on the clock with the score at 15-13. With the Lady Knights still in the lead, the second quarter ends with the score at 18-15. Lady Knights once again started the third quarter with a two-pointer, which brought the score to 20-15. Both teams continued to work relentlessly for the rest of the quarter, with the final score settling at 25-24. The fourth quarter starts with the Lady Knights scoring a 3-pointer. Unfortunately, the Trojans stepped up their game as they brought in another comeback with the score reaching 37-30 at 3:52 with the Trojans in the lead. In the end, the Lady Knights lose while putting on an awesome performance that day.
The Knights, following the Lady Knights, showed no mercy on the court. To start the game, the Trojans scored a 3-pointer. The Knights, however, began to turn the tide as the score reached 15-9 in the final minutes of the first quarter. The Knights started the first quarter with a 2-pointer bringing the score to 18-9 at 5:51, with the Knights being in the lead. The game pushed on, eventually bringing the final score of the second quarter to 27-21. The Knights started the third quarter even stronger than before, as the score was set at 31-21 at the start of the quarter. As both teams kept pushing, the Trojans couldn’t get a hold of the Knights as they finished the third quarter with a score of 42-32. In the fourth quarter, with the score starting at 46-32 at 6:30 on the clock, the Knights played ruthlessly as they scored points from left to right. The game finally ended with the Knights winning with a score of 62-50.
That night was Senior Night, which, of course, was a night to acknowledge our senior athletes. Knowing that this would be the seniors’ final home game, they pushed their hardest to make it a game like no other. According to Coach Clark, Senior Night played a significant role in the outcome of the game, as the team’s performance was influenced by Senior Night. In the end, Senior Night was more than just a celebration, it fueled the team’s determination and passion for the outcome of the game and a send-off for the seniors.
West Lauderdale Knights’ basketball season ended with a bang, presenting the dedication and hard work shown by not only the seniors but by the entire team.
