National Family Caregivers Month is recognized every November, and the holiday started in 1997 to recognize the hard work and dedication that family caregivers provide to those in need. This holiday can shed light on issues faced by caregivers around the country and give community to people who share the same interest in helping families by caring for those who can not do it themselves.
The theme for NFCM this year is Caring Around the Clock. This theme praises caregivers for working endlessly to keep elderly loved ones comfortably at home. Several organizations, such as Mental Health America and the National Council of Aging, acknowledge NFCM and provide resources for caregivers needing support or guidance. This month is a time to celebrate all the work caregivers do and give support and gratitude back to them.
