The West Lauderdale Academic Team competed in their first match of the year. The annual Ole Miss Brain Brawl was hosted on Saturday, November 1st. Though the team was short-staffed, West’s brainiacs were buzzing with excitement to compete in their first competition of the year. Returning members, Rhea Garrison and Joel West, competed alongside their fellow new members, Noelle Carey, Michael Lewis, Carson Myers, and Cooper Sellers.
Cooper Sellers, a junior, shared his thoughts on joining of the team:
“I had a lot of fun, and I really didn’t think it would be how it was… you see in movies how you’re [going] against the other team, and you’re in this big auditorium, but being in a small classroom like we were was really interesting. It was also a lot of fun… I really enjoyed it.”
Michael Lewis added, “It was nerve-wracking, but I was very glad I could go and participate.”
After facing some tough competition, West Lauderdale finished with two wins out of five matches. They will be competing again at Itawamba Agricultural High School on November 16th.
